The Marlton Rotary Club recently awarded its two annual college scholarships for 2006 to graduating seniors of Cherokee High School, according to John Hollis, the club’s immediate past-President.
Brittany Engelke is the recipient of the John R. Traino Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Traino was a charter member and the first President of the Marlton Rotary Club in 1970.
Carly Tourigian was selected as the winner of the club’s Bill McNaul Scholarship. Mr. McNaul was a Rotarian for 53 years and a charter member of the Marlton Rotary Club in 1970 before assuming Honorary Membership status in 2004. Ms. Tourigian will be attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing with aspirations of becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
The club’s Scholarship Selection Committee, chaired by member Wilson Bradley, selected Ms. Engelke and Ms. Tourigian from several hundred applicants. Both scholarships were in the amount of $1000.00.
